STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR LAUNCHES PHYTOFERMENTED SKINCARE LINE 

ARÊMÊS FERMENTIS is paving the way for universally effective skincare by incorporating special bioactive ingredients called PhytofermentsTM. Its founder, Regan Schneider (age 22), launched the company in 2018 while studying for her degree in Food Science at California Polytechnic State University. The idea came to her while spending the summer studying in Paris, France at the Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l’Aromatique alimentaire (ISIPCA), which is a premier school in the field of fragrances, cosmetics and flavors – hence the close intersection between food and beauty.

The proprietary fermentation process produces PhytofermentsTM which are bioactive.  The process uses healthful microorganisms to produce enzymes that breakdown botanicals into nutrients for the skin. These PhytofermentsTM elicit a response in living tissue resulting in significant skin repair, protection, nourishment, and a rejuvenated appearance.

Growing up on a lavender farm and in a family of microbiologists and formulary chemists, Schneider was well versed in the relationship between nature and science, and later incorporated the aspect of beauty and skincare.  This powerful “trifecta” led to the inspiration and creation of a phytofermented skincare product line. “I have always been obsessed with nutrition, quality ingredients, and natural beauty whether it was in the culinary or the skincare realm.  Therefore, bringing the aspect of fermentation together with skincare that focuses on skin health just made sense to me,” said Schneider.

Being a young female entrepreneur in a rising market has come with many challenges of its own. Schneider explains, “The world is an ever-changing place and the public is interested in products that are unique, effective and natural.  A new category in the skincare industry is currently being developed and I am excited to be at the forefront.  That is both exciting and challenging at the same time.” She adds, “the key is to identify current needs, develop your own trends and do it in a natural and healthful way that actually benefits consumer lives.” 

Although the number of skincare brands available are growing by the day, Schneider explains “that high quality and universally effective products are still few and far between because most brands don’t consider the biology of skin. The edge we have, however, is that there is published science as well as passion behind our products.”

From the hand-painted artwork on the side of each box to every ingredient being carefully selected, to the logo itself, every aspect of Schneider’s brand has been thought out and executed with purpose and passion. “In fact, the logo we designed is of a plant acting as the substrate to an enzyme. This not only shows the close relationship we hold between nature and science but also to create a visual representation of the phytofermentation process we use for each product. The care and passion we put into the production process and our products are emblematic of our story,” said Schneider.

No matter the skin type, color, sensitivity, or age, Schneider, and her brand ARÊMÊS FERMENTIS, are cultivating the necessary natural phytoferment skincare products to help people look and feel beautiful on the inside and out.
