The USA subsidiary, Deister Electronics USA, Inc., has been operating out of its base in Manassas, Virginia for the past 20 years. Deister’s core competency is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), a technology originally developed (as an adjunct to radar) in World War II as a means of aircraft identification (friend or foe) (IFF). In the early 1980’s the development of Integrated Circuits (IC) began to reach a cost point where this technology became practical for non-aviation applications. Sales continue to grow annually at an increasingly rapid pace. North American employment alone has increased by 20%. In the past year with eight of thirteen total employees based in Manassas and that number expected to grow.
