This paper includes a brief explanation of the simple and easy installation of vermiculite boards as insulation in steel ladles. Former discussions about extra time spent insulating ladles are, if not irelevant, then at least slightly academic. Results include a clearer incentive to include vermiculite insulation when relining a ladle, as well as a focus on the durable material's steady thermal and mechanical properties even when exposed to persistent thermal stress. The paper will include a fact-based explanation of reduced thermal stress over a working liner alongside a heat flow throughwall.
