Tracks: Rolling Process Modeling, Simulation & Control

Coiling temperature control, CTC, in hot strip mills is crucial for determining material properties. Current temperature model in CTC calculates the material temperature of fixed-length parts divided along the longitudinal direction, i.e., cooled-material-wise model. A new temperature model is proposed in which material temperature is calculated by a view of cooling devices, i.e., cooling-device-wise model. The proposed model will lead to simpler model-based design of CTC since positional relation between cooling devices and cooled parts of materials is fixed. Also, it has enough accuracy and less computational time. The validity of the proposed model has been confirmed by simulations.
