Tracks: EAF Refractory

In this article, application results of refractories for the electric arc furnace are described comprehensively. Diameter increase of the eccentric bottom tapping tube was suppressed by improving the abrasion resistance of jointless monoblock tube. In order to reduce wall corrosion, inhibition of microstructure deterioration of MgO-C brick induced by the reaction between MgO and C was found to be essential. Since skull removal damages the bottom anode brick, the anode brick wear was reduced by the prevention of steel penetration to the joint by improving volume stability. A multi-hole plug tuyere was effective in bottom stirring. Recently developed, these technologies improve overall furnace operation efficiency.
