EZDK, Alexandria, Egypt, launched a revamp project for a CSP® plant in 2015 with the target to improve product quality, to extend the product range and to overcome automation system obsolescence. In a joint effort, EZDK and SMS group undertook this revamp with a shutdown of only 22 days. The scope comprised caster enhancement to configure slabs and liquid core reduction. The finishing mill is equipped with reinforced cooling and new measurement systems, including for surface quality. The entire automation is updated to the latest technology X-Pact® automation system, including all new drives. Results of the modernization will be displayed and also main topics of the revamp project discussed.
