To reduce cost and CO2 emission at the ignition furnace of a sinter plant, a new type of burner that can heat material with less amount of gas is required. A new burner was developed that enabled its nozzle velocity to increase by more than 3 times. It enlarges the convection heat transfer coefficient to 1.7 times and increases the capacity of heating rate. The new burner was put into use at a sinter plant and the amount of gas was reduced by 30%.
