Renewing the EAF Gunning Manipulator

In order to improve the efficiency for gunning repair of EAF, the optimal equipment was introduced at Osaka Works. As a result, several improvements were attained: (1) The achievement of gunning repair toward the furnace hearth direction has enabled to reduce the amount of repairing materials unit consumption and its repair time; (2) Although it was conventionally difficult, the eccentric bottom tapping wall has enabled to be gunned, and the loss has been reduced; and (3) Reducing the hand gunning repair has relieved the heavy manual work. This paper reports on the results obtained from these improvements.
