Tracks: Maintenance & Upgrades

Regular maintenance plays a key role in helping our metals industry meet its customers' needs. Lack of regular maintenance of electrical equipment leads to frequent failures, low productivity and increased operating costs. Traditional maintenance programs in iron and steel mills are neither reliability based nor unique to each piece of electrical equipment. This paper intends to build on the ANSI/NETA Maintenance Testing Specifications (MTS) to provide adaptive maintenance plans for electrical equipment that are typically installed in iron and steel mills. The proposed plan considers age, criticality and condition of the equipment to evaluate the frequency of required maintenance.
