The hot blast system is a critical auxiliary plant, and high hot blast temperatures are necessary for low coke rate operations. Degradation of refractory and shell can limit the reliability, availability and efficiency of the hot blast system and necessitate campaign extension repairs or modernization. These are addressed in this paper, including examples.
