In a hot rolling plant, water leakage and blockage has occurred more frequently than other plant at the WB skid pipes of heating furnace. However, when the quality of circulatory cooling water is compared, both hot rolling plant and other plants are controlled at neutral pH. So it became necessary to investigate which factor caused the difference of the corrosion phenomena in skid pipes. The influence of each water quality item and other some conditions were evaluated. This paper proposes a way to operate the open circulatory cooling water system at low risk.
