Accurate on- and off-line process models and simulations are one of the most powerful tools to guide the steelmaking process. On-line models are used for dynamic prediction of the current production state in order to support the process guidance and supervision. Moreover, continuous improvement of steel quality and cost efficiency can be aspired to. Off-line process simulation tools are intended to investigate the effect of changes of process parameters in a timesaving way. This paper illustrates the development of an independent process model library for on- and off-line applications and presents the results of two fully implemented client installations.
