Novel Methods for Enhanced Lubrication in Continuous Casting & Rolling Mill Operations
No. 3 continuous casting in JFE Steel Chiba, which began running in 1981, operated at close to 90%. However, troubles were frequent in the bearing of the segment that was a weak point of the facility and had a great influence on operations. The deterioration situation of the bearing was evaluated and a lubrication method for oil-air lubrication from grease-air lubrication was formulated. Bearing trouble decreases by this remodeling and now operates smoothly. Oil-air lubrication is very effective in stabilizing the continuous casting facilities.
