Tracks: Energy & Utility Management in Hot Rolling Operations

Traditional control of a regenerative system can be difficult due to the inherent discontinuities associated with switching burners. A non-conventional controls approach has shown promise in addressing these concerns. This case study will include a reheat furnace with an updated and recently commissioned controls system that has implemented several of these improved concepts. The results have exceeded expectations, including reductions in fuel use, reduced scale and improved capacity.
