The steel industry requires refractory materials with a reliable and sustainable quality standard. In the scope of the digitalization of the industry, quality requires a new approach in communication between steelmakers and suppliers, with regard to product specifications, tolerances, claim management, etc. A long-term strategy has been developed to deal with challenges like big data, process management, 100% testing, education, etc. Highest quality consistency allows for perfect planning, reduced delivery times due to stable in-house processes and significant reductions in working capital. In combination with a fine-tuned logistics concept, this strategy is introduced to selected steel plants.
