This work was a continuous, multidisciplinary development. Through blowing process survey data and process parameters, enhancements and adjustments were made to the lance tip hot face parameters with slagless technology, as well as blow process parameters, re-establishment of the "autopilot" blowing and mitigating actions for slopping. The main results were increased tip life (with a record 1,785 heats blown), drastically reduced water leaks in the cartridge and lance, and stability of the blow settings in the dimensional nozzle adjustments for this specific steel shop.
