Steel handling has traditionally been carried out with slings, chains and hooks. All of these handling devices increase the chances of injury due to the direct contact the operator has with the load. Industrial lifting magnets offer a safe alternative that allow the operation to be done remotely, thus avoiding the operator’s exposure and direct contact with steel. In this presentation, the technologies used today in industrial magnetic lifters will be explored, as well as additional safety features integrated into these systems to guarantee a successful implementation and performance on different applications throughout the steel mills and service centers. This presentation will show how the use of the right magnetic system for handling steel products is a practical and efficient way to create a safer working environment.
