Tracks: Inclusion Analysis

Examining the various aspects of non-metallic inclusions, such as their chemistry and size distributions, is vital for optimizing the properties and processing of steel. These examinations have been greatly aided by automated analysis in scanning electron microscopes equipped with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. These methods are extremely effective tools that generate large amounts of data related to inclusions. In this study, we investigate ways to optimize data analysis and increase the amount of information obtained from automated inclusion studies by using statistical analyses to identify correlations in the multi-variable data sets produced from automated analysis of inclusions.
