This presentation discloses the results of a finite-element thermodynamic model of the curing of a 40-µm (humid) polyester coating on a galvanized carbon steel substrate. Four heat transfer modes are compared: electrical-infrared irradiation, gas-infrared irradiation, hot-air convection and induction. The outcome of the model is a series of gradients of temperatures within the thickness of the coating, established at different moments of the curing process. These results are then compared with experimental data.
