Blast Furnace Operations — Campaign Life & Productivity
The No. 4 blast furnace, one of two operating furnaces at the Tata Steel UK Port Talbot site, produced almost 16,000 metric tons/m3 working volume by the end of a 20-year campaign. The key life-extension philosophies will be discussed, along with some of the events from throughout the campaign and how these incidents impacted on the life of the furnace. Operational, process, and engineering solutions to issues and events from the previous campaign were adopted within the design and operation of the new, currently operating furnace.
