23 May 19
9:30 AM - 9:55 AM

Tracks: International Wind Energy Markets, Poster Presentations

Germany holds a firm place among the leading countries worldwide in the production of wind energy. Yet, the change from predetermined feed-in tariffs to price finding by call for bids in 2017 has significant impacts on the growth of the German onshore wind energy market. In this presentation, U.S. investors and suppliers planning investments in Germany’s wind energy will obtain crucial information about the actual benefits and challenges of this development. Thus, the presentation discusses all topics that are essential for an ideal planning and investment security: • an overview of Germany’s actual and forecasted installed capacity, • new laws and regulations relevant for the project development, such as the environmental impact assessment in 2017 as well as the public tender procedure and the introduction of needs-based lighting systems in 2018, • current discussions on policies affecting the future development of Germany as an investment location for onshore wind energy. Great attention will be paid to the envisaged fossil fuel phase-out as well as to the call for a minimum rate for land designated to wind energy. By using practical methods and examples in this presentation, the audience will obtain the know-how to consider these important topics for their project and investment planning.
