After this session, attendees should be able to:

  1. Discuss current classification and common presentations of eating disorders (AN, BN, BED, ARFID, OSFED).
  2. Define orthorexia, proposed criteria for diagnosis, and differences between orthorexia and other eating disorders.
  3. Define pathological exercise and understand associated health risks.
  4. Discuss challenges and strategies for identifying and addressing suspected eating disorders and/or pathological exercise.

Program Abstract:
This presentation will address the diagnostic criteria for a variety of less common or more inconspicuous presentations of eating disorders including orthorexia and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, as well as offering proposed criteria for pathological exercise. Participants will be able to correctly identify disordered eating or exercise behaviors to provider earlier interventions.
