Operational Results of the Inteco Burner System at Nucor Steel-Berkeley (Room 406)

In August 2017, Nucor Steel–Berkeley, located near Charleston, S.C., installed INTECO PTI LLC JetBOxes and supersonic sidewall burners on their furnaces. A trial period of more than 12 months showed improvements in both yield and utility consumption. This paper gives an overview of the installation of the JetBOx™ supersonic oxygen injection system on the upper shell of the furnace, and the reduction in conversion costs.
