Improvement of Vacuum Degasser Cover (Room 410)

Godo Steel Himeji Works is an electric furnace plant that produces round bars for structural use. In the secondary refining of the steelmaking process, vacuum degassing (VD) is done after the ladle furnace. A VD cover was installed 28 years ago, and cracking of the furnace cover frequently occurred due to aging. Processing failures also occurred due to cracking of the VD cover, and productivity and quality deteriorated. Therefore, renovation of the VD cover had become the urgent task. In this report, improvements in VD cover renovation will be reported.
