Hot-rolled coil produced via a thin-slab casting and rolling mill was developed to meet the specifications of HSLA Gr80 and UHSS Gr90. The effect of chemistry and hot rolling process parameters on microstructure and mechanical properties were studied. Chemistry design along with recrystallization and precipitation behavior were optimized during processing to achieve the required mechanical properties to meet end use with titanium (Ti) and niobium (Nb) microalloy addition.
