Tracks: Cold Sheet Rolling

The Zoom-Millâ„¢, or zero-oriented offgauge minimization, is a rolling method that enables unrolled portions in a reversible cold rolling mill to be reduced using a leader strip and a spot welding machine and thereby aims for improvement in productivity. Developed around 10 years ago, several Zoom-Mills were put into practical use and commercial operation and have been working well as intended initially, achieving approximately 1% improvement of product yield of the products. In this paper, recent developments and applications of Zoom-Mill technology will be introduced.
