Electromagnetic stirring (EMS) is a casting technology that contributes to improved billet quality. Different positions of EMS have different influences on the billet quality. Providing the location is unreasonable; the quality of the billet can’t improve. Therefore, it’s necessary to optimize EMS position. In this paper, the influence of different EMS positions on the fluctuation in the billet mold are simulated. The results show that when the EMS position is within limits, the fluctuation and the liquid levels decrease as the position moves downward. When the position is stable, they increase with the amplification of current.
