The Danieli Endless Casting and Rolling (ECR) process is a reliable and cost-effective way to produce rebar. The latest developments of Danieli micromill technology (MI.DA.) include the application of ECR technology in the production of spooler coils and wire rod as well, for both rebar and smooth rounds. Recent Mi.DA. layouts have been developed to further improve productivity, compactness, energy savings and production flexibility. This paper gives an overview of the latest ECR advances and applications, expanding and consolidating the Mi.DA. technology in terms of CapEx and OpEx.
