The JFE Fukuyama No. 2 continuous galvanizing line (CGL) produces galvanized steel sheets for automobiles, structural materials and home appliances. It is required to decrease the environmental load material. We introduced coating equipment to produce chromate-free galvanized steel sheets. The following three items were decided when the equipment was introduced: • Design of a CGL that can produce chromate-free sheets for structural materials and automotive exposed panels. • Dividing construction into three periods to avoid influence on current production. • Introducing the vertical roll coater for chromate-free film with uniform thickness. The new No. 2 CGL started up in May 2018 and began commercial production.
