Modernization of Continuous Casting Machine in the Era of Intelligent Manufacturing (Room 316)

Investments are always required to modernize plants and improve their competitiveness level; minimization of the intervention risk is also targeted, considering the specifics of each case. The targets for the modernization of a continuous casting machine are typically significant improvements of quality and yield for production, for example, of AHSS; reduction of breakout rate; and liquid core reduction for a wide variety of speeds and ranges. This paper illustrates the solution proposed by Danieli with the application of Q-MAP, Q-CORE, Q-LEVEL and Q-PULSE technological packages. Use cases are presented with operative results, illustrating how the smart features give further benefits.
