It is vital to the success of any business to be aware of the technological disruptions that directly impact the industry in which they serve. In the ever-changing landscape of manufacturing, the current point of emphasis revolves around converging information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) using the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in order to achieve Industry 4.0. The purpose of this discussion is to characterize a common-sense approach using edge devices and analytics to satisfy the dynamically changing IIoT requirements. The focus will center on the general manufacturing infrastructure of various steelmaking processes.
