This paper will describe the design, implementation and improvements achieved with a new stripper nozzle that eliminates water carryover in high-speed rod/bar mills and reduces water and air consumption. In laboratory and mill tests, only one nozzle eliminated 100% of water carryover; allowing the increase of waterbox cooling capacity. The nozzles can operate with compressed air, water or even without any fluid at all. The nozzle creates internal vortexes when used without any fluid. When used with air or water, it converts pressure into kinetic energy, reducing the air/water and energy consumption. Its use reduces operating costs and investment.
