RECYRON: Idea to Innovation to Technology in Zero-Waste Ironmaking (Room 402)

RECYRON® is a groundbreaking, novel and patent-pending technology for complete utilization of the raw material wastes (RMWs) from integrated steel plants for producing high-quality DRI using a simple briquetting technique followed by rotary kiln reduction. The DRI produced by this process could be used as an alternative charge in mini-mills operating electric arc furnaces (EAFs) or could also be charged in a blast furnace to save coke. The present work demonstrates the development, the technical and the financial background of this new technology (which has been developed in Austria), along with the possibilities of installation in a global context.
