When a cooling circuit fracture happens within a steel furnace, a water leak can occur, posing a serious safety risk. It is essential to monitor the integrity of water-cooling circuits for defects that may cause immediate or potential hazards. Tenova’s novel approach consists of a technology to directly monitor the circuit structure integrity. The proposed solution aims to be more accurate than the alternatives, being adaptable to already existing circuits, with minimal invasive modifications. This paper will present proof of concept for this new technology, together with experimental results obtained on the upper shell of an EAF.
