Modernization of Shandong Steel 1,700-mm Hot Strip Mill (Room 306)

Shandong Steel intends to build a 1,700-mm hot strip mill to produce thinner-specification, high-strength steel products. The customer is mostly concerned with the product quality and production cost. CISDI undertook the engineering, procurement and construction and spent two years on its successful completion. CISDI aimed to minimize the downtime and remove restrictions from the production. A textbook style of modernization procedures was formulated for implementing the project. The advanced facilities were installed, including a new coilbox, new F0, new F1–F6 work roll bending and shifting (WRB/WRS), new reinforced laminar cooling and new level 1–3 automation systems. The modernization drive resulted in excellent product quality.
