Thermal Shock Resistance of Regenerate MgO–CaO Bricks (Room 319)

This paper is mainly about the regeneration and reutilization of spent refractory. Regenerated MgO–CaO bricks were first prepared by using spent MgO–CaO bricks and fused magnesia as raw materials in the lab. The bricks' properties, such as thermal shock resistance, hydration resistance, etc., were subsequently investigated. It is indicated that spent MgO-CaO bricks can be made into regenerated MgO-CaO bricks with superior properties. Thus they may be reused in cement kilns, substituting for the heavy, hazardous MgO–Cr2O3 bricks and reducing the stockpiling of spent refractory.
