Steel Dynamics’ New Continuous Coil Coating Line for Steel Strip

Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI), one of the largest U.S. steel producers, installed a 600 feet/minute and 250,000-ton/year appliance grade coil coating line at their facilities in Columbus, Miss. The time from purchase order to first coil run was 16 months, and the project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget. The line supplied by Danieli FATA Hunter can process cold-rolled, galvanized, pickled hot band and Galvalume® steel coils with a maximum width of 72 inches at a base metal thickness range of 0.010–0.076 inch. These products are currently being supplied to appliance, automotive, HVAC, building panel, lighting fixture and other markets.
