Steel mill automation investments are focused on the modernization and upgrade of existing electrical and process control systems due to equipment obsolescence, production reliability and maintenance costs reduction. This presentation will discuss an electrical and automation revamp at Nucor Steel in Utah, which underwent an alternative, multi-phase revamping approach that reduced the downtime to switchover to the new systems and minimized the impact on production. Project details and benefits will be highlighted throughout the presentation.
