MHPS Latest Large Frame Gas Turbine Development and Fleet Experiences (Room Garuda 12, 1st Floor)

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has been making every effort continuously to increase the thermal efficiency and performance of Advanced Class Gas Turbines (ACGT) and the corresponding combined cycles by upgrading gas turbine performance such as Turbine Inlet Temperature (TIT). The first J-class gas turbine featuring a TIT of 1,600 °C started -commercial operation in 2011 for 60Hz unit and in 2016 for 50Hz unit. A total number of 47 - units have been sold including 26 units currently in commercial operation in Japan, Korea and USA with accumulated more than 500,000 hours. The latest 50Hz F-class gas turbine featuring a TIT of 1,500 °C started commercial operation in 2015 in a 1on1 combined cycle configuration. Total 6 units have been started commercial operation in Japan, Thailand and China. Next unit will be started operation in Indonesia. As an advanced J-class gas turbine, JAC gas turbine with a new technology of enhanced air cooling combustor, has been developed and validated in long term verification operation at MHPS validation power station (T-Point : Takasago-Point, which is operated on grid as IPP for a Japanese utility company). This paper describes MHPS’s large frame gas turbine development update and the latest F & J fleet experiences.
