27 Sep 19
4:05 PM - 5:05 PM

Tracks: Multidisciplinary

Moderator: Robert Turner, DPT, OCS

This is a follow up to last year's presentation on Value Models in Spine Care. Value models used nationally will be discussed by Catherine MacLean MD PhD while the value model used at the Mayo Clinic will be discussed by Michael Halasy, DHSc, PA-C, MS. Updated data regarding utilization of the Direct Access Spine Care Pathway at Hospital for Special Surgery will be presented. Questions will be taken from the audience regarding the economics of their spine value models.

Upon completion of this session, participants should gain strategies to:

  • Strategically analyze their current spine care model and recognize where cost savings may be implemented;
  • Understand drivers for spine care costs from an operative and non-operative perspective;
  • Recognize and implement alternative cost effective spine care models to their current practice;
  • Recognize the impact of a physical therapist driven cost containment model.
