The Navajo code is a unique World War II legacy. It was used in all Pacific battles to transmit top secret and confidential messages. It is the only military code in modern history never broken by an enemy. The Navajo code, commissioned by the Marine Corps, saved hundreds of thousands of lives and helped to shorten the war in the Pacific. According to Major Howard Connor, 5th Marine Division: “Were it not for the Navajos, the Marines would never have taken Iwo Jima.” There are only five remaining Navajo code talkers as of June 2019. MacDonald’s presentation is always enthusiastic, clear, and heartfelt. It combines factual and personal experiences regarding the inception of the code, the use of the code during the war and after the war, and current status of the Navajo code talkers. A truly memorable experience hearing the story from an elder Navajo statesman and patriot. For more information, visit PeterMacDonaldSr.com.
