The current IBC, IRC and IECC – energy conservation codes dictate higher levels of insulation above the roofing deck for most buildings. The R-value required may be as high as 35 for roofing insulation is some applications. This would mean installing 5-6 inches of spray foam. In some cases this would yield a non-competitive system in the roofing market.
We will discuss the proper installation methods of using Spray polyurethane roofing foam over an Isocyanurate board insulation and other cover boards as well as those board insulations that may not be ideal. We review options in different types of board insulations, different faces, tapered insulation and coverboards as well as how to adhere or fasten these in various roofing applications
We will also discuss calculating the total composite R- value, U-values and performance versus prescriptive methods of meeting the energy code requirements.
