Design-Build is a project delivery method where the design & construction of a project are the responsibility of one entity. It sounds like a great idea – no more disputes between the designer and the contractor, dealing with only one contact, a more streamlined project. As with most great ideas, there are also challenges to using this approach – unfamiliarity of the process by staff and bidders, pre-qualifications, and unknown lead times just to name a few. This session will look at one Charter City’s use of the method – the good, the challenges and the lessons learned.
