In power plants the highest influence on the efficiency with the lowest costs is realized by increasing the competence of personnel operating and maintaining it. Training enhances the skills of staff and operators how to operate the plant and is a key element to achieve an optimal plant operation improving performance and reliability. Well trained operators respond efficiently to transient conditions such as load changes or disturbances. Timely action reduces the risk of unsafe operation causing a trip or damaging part of the plant. Improving the response time when handling an emergency condition can keep the plant on-line increasing its availability and minimizing costs. The objectives of a trainings program are to 1. ensure a high availability and reliability 2. reduce the electricity generation costs 3. information about technical developments 4. understand methods to design, calculate, evaluate 5. improve the holistic understanding of the interaction of power plant systems
