In power and industrial environments, the value chain uses and is based on a considerable amount of data. As a start-up dedicated to new technologies created in November of 2012, Digit-Prime brings a set of innovative and technological tools to solve complex problems with efficient and unexpected solutions. The paper describes the “proof of concept” project developed for a large company active in the Power Sectors; the project combines immersive virtual reality simulation and real time electrical data analysis coming from the control system. We have addressed the training processes of maintenance engineer in an industrial environment, the global electrical control system of a plant. We have re-created the environment based on CAD Model, we have used the user’s body movement to operate in the virtual world, we have used electrical schematic data and connexions, we have integrated the diagnosis scenarios of issues to be faced by the operator. At last, we have measured the answer of the worker, between the time he gets aware of an issue and the moment he can evaluate the impact of the proposed solution. With a dramatic improvement of the efficiency, the operator can easily operate inside an unknown environment. He is able to visualize and identify more easily the connected parameters of an issue. Before this system, he was obliged to know and to go through thousands of electrical schematics and information before having the focus on the parameters related to the issue. With this system, the only important information are displayed and made available to him when needed in a smart way. Many applications of the method have been identified : maintenance and supervision in service market, facilities supervision/maintenance/management, assistance to operation, qualification of design impact on process, process modification simulation.
