Environmental impacts of hydropower generation are debated locally, nationally and internationally. Impacts to air and water quality, fish migration, natural habitats, stream flows, indigenous populations and many others are regular topics. With the prospect of increased hydropower development nationally and internationally, this session will debate whether these environmental impacts present opportunities that can stimulate hydro development or barriers that will stall and, potentially, stymie this development.
