There has been research about the physical implications of childhood obesity. However, not as much research has been done in the area of mental health or how practicioners, especially professional school counselors, can help students who are obese. Professional school counselors need to be aware of how childhood obesity impacts students and how they can help their students personally, socially, and academically. Attendees will learn how to use the ASCA National Model among other interventions to help these students.
