Counselor educators find themselves playing a variety of roles when working with impaired graduate students. We are counselors, educators, and gatekeepers. This session is designed to facilitate discussion of best practices when dealing with students in remediation. Impaired students may have academic deficits, clinical skills deficits, unaddressed mental health issues, or unacknowledged substance abuse issues. How do you work with impaired students and when do you make the difficult decision to dismiss?
