The risks to adults and to the counseling profession resulting from professional counselors being denied Medicare provider status will be considered. Attendees will share their experiences. This session will explore the benefits of access to counselor services for prevention of mental illness and addictions among those from diverse backgrounds. Current initiatives of counselor advocacy for Medicare services will be shared. Attendees will discuss what needs to be done and will participate as advocates during the session.
