This session provides an overview of the Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies that were recently endorsed by AMCD and ACA. These competencies reflect a departure from the 1992 multicultural competencies in significant ways, including attention to how counselors from marginalized backgrounds might work with clients with multiple privilege statuses and the merging of multicultural and social justice as foundational aspects of counseling and advocacy.
